Mixing philosophy with a healthy dose of down home humor, author Andra Watkins presented one of the best programs of the year. After reading Stephen Ambrose’s book “Undaunted Courage,” Andra was inspired to learn more about the Lewis and Clark expedition and specifically the questions surrounding the death of Meriwether Lewis. That led to her first novel, “To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether Lewis.” The problem, Andra explained in her Southern accent, was no one wanted to publish a “paranoid historical action novel.” So, in an attempt to promote the book, she decided to do something very few people have done—walk the Natchez Trace, a 10,000 year-old road older than the Pyramids that stretches from Natches, MS to Nashville, TN.
