Rick Rogoway led a great program this week in celebrating the success of the SMART Reading Program that he has championed for many years. Volunteers from our club and the community joined us today to hear from author, Brian Parker w/ Believe in Wonder and author of “Darren Strider, Bumble Bee Rider” on just how important it is to face your fears and that story telling helps you to do just that. If you turn what you fear into a story, you can take what you’re afraid of and turn it into a character that you can imagine doing good. Our club supports Sunnyside Elementary in the SMART Reading Program but many schools throughout the district having reading programs that need you, as a volunteer to work with the kids to make them stronger readers and help them to be more successful in school.
