Youth Exchange
Rotary International Youth Exchange is one of the largest international youth exchange organizations in the world and draws participation from over 80 countries. Over 9,000 high school age children participate in Rotary Youth Exchange every year, exposing them to unfamiliar languages, ethnicities, customs and experiences. Program participants gain independence, self-confidence and first-hand knowledge of the larger world in which we live. Friendships are forged that last a lifetime, building peace one student at a time.
Rotary District 5100, which encompasses portions of Oregon and Washington, is one of the most active and committed exchange districts in the world with 50+ students venturing off to the far corners of the planet each year and a like number arriving here from the 26 countries involved in exchanges with this district. This represents approximately 8% of all the Rotary exchanges that take place in the USA.
The Clackamas Rotary Foundation and the Rotary Club of Clackamas sponsor and host 2 to 4 exchange youths every year. Inbound and outbound students are exchanged between countries such as Denmark, France, Brazil, Australia, India and Japan.
